Things to know about backbends (heart opener ? )

Physical:

Above all, we open our shoulders and arms, stretching our front. More precisely, we thus figuratively open our heart ?.

In other words, we stretch our thoracic spine, widen the chest and this allows our lungs and heart area to open. In any case, we stretch our shoulders and our abdominal muscles. Also our intercostal muscles, groin and thigh muscles are stretched.

Especially the shoulders and upper back are usually an area that is tense for many of us. Through backbends we build strength in the legs, arms and back muscles. We increase flexibility and improve our posture and it can also relieve some types of back and neck pain.

Mental:

Moreover, backbends have a positive effect on the emotional level. It is often the case that we protect and "close" our most vulnerable part, our heart. But by bending back we do exactly the opposite, we open ourselves to the world. That is, we stimulate our heart chakra. Thus, we open ourselves to our emotions, experiences and our relationships.

However, hidden emotions can also come to light, such as fear, anger, sadness or even joy and love.
